Nearest towns are Pwllheli (15 minute drive), Caernarfon (25 minute drive), Porthmadog (30 minute drive), Bangor (40 minute drive).
Pwllheli is a small seaside market town with the usual seaside amenities including a marina, long beach, supermarkets, take-aways, and an abundance of cafes/coffee shops. Roads and pavements are narrow and the town can become busy with traffic and pedestrians in the summer months.
Caernarfon, situated on the Menai Strait with views across to Anglesey is slightly bigger. It has a large castle and some of the town is built within the castle walls. Again this gets busy in summer months. Some roads are narrow but there is a spacious feel particularly in the market place and in the castle.
Bangor has a pedestrianised street of small shops, cafes, market, etc, with a small shopping precinct. There are larger chainstores just outside the centre.
Porthmadog has a number of shops and a large Tesco.
Llandudno, further away (one hour's drive), is Wales's largest seaside resort. It has wider roads with pavements and a long beach with a very wide promenade. It has a number of attractions such as cable cars and a multiplex cinema.
